We would like to share with you the latest news on Cannes The French Riviera over the past 14 months. Though the town has been on a full lockdown though COVID19 there has been lots happening behind closed doors.

 

 

 

 

The latest news on the reopening and restrictions lifting in France

 

19th May

The reopening of terraces of cafes bars and restaurants with a maximum of 6 per table.

Curfew will be at 9pm (current 7pm)

 

9th June

The reopening entirely of all restaurants bars cafes inside (50% capacity) and outside with a maximum of 6 per table.

With hotels reopening from mid June for residential stays

International visitors will be allowed back into France

Curfew will be at 11pm

30th June

Capacity limits lifted in restaurants and end of 11pm curfew standing concerts and festivals will be able to resume, with a limit set by the region. A health pass will be required for any concert brining together more than 1,000 spectators. 

This is all positive news! The vaccination roll out is (finally) going well in France and our Covid cases are decreasing!

Update for travel from UK to France

According to the British government, France is classified in Amber.

Which means you will need a pre departure test as well as 10 days quarantine when you will return to UK

So even if it is not illegal to travel to France, we are very much looking forward to the next colour change on June 7 before knowing if you will have the “Green light”!

Brand new feature – Cannes underwater Eco Museum

Submersion of sculptures by artist Jason deCaires Taylor: Cannes’ underwater eco-museum drops anchor just off the island of Sainte-Marguerite
The big day arrived the end of January with sculptures of the Cannes underwater eco-museum, created by the famous British international artist Jason deCaires Taylor, a great fan of the city, took their place a few dozen metres from the shore of the island of Sainte-Marguerite.
The sculptures can be visited by boat and anchor close by and enjoy the swim and snorkelling views

Hotels of Cannes

There has been a great deal of refurbishments in Cannes this past year.

The Carlton Hotel

The Carlton Hotel maintains its entire extension- and renovation programme worth 250
Million Euros. The hotel will reopen totally renovated and restored early 2023. The extension comprises a fully integrated Convention Centre,
SPA, Pool (see photo) and a beautiful courtyard garden of 2000m2.
The new Carlton Beach Club, Bar and Restaurant will open on the 19th of May and remain open all year around 

 

 

JW Marriott Hotel

So much has been happening at the JW Marriott Cannes, with a 40 million euro renovation. 15000sqm renovated space, 6 newly designed floors and terraces. After one years work the full exterior has been transformed, with the lobby, restaurant and additional to the hotel a selection of luxury bouquet stores.
A new Avant- Garde entrance, new state of the art escalator, a new spiral staircase and a lift for full accessibility. On the lobby level the restaurant doubles its capacity from 70 to 150 seats. The creation of the new footbridge was the biggest challenge, now on the upper floor, the new modern reception area will enjoy a full sea view. The 261 rooms including 50 suites, have had their rooms and bathrooms renovated. Its emblematic theatre with 825 seats key to its history and identity, remains in the heart of the hotel. The Exclusive 859sqm rooftop still offers its breathtaking views of the Bay of Cannes and remains a one of a kind location for your exclusive events. Radisson Blu Hotel

The Excellent positioned Radisson Blu Hotel news, the restaurant, bar and rooftop have been entirely renovated and will offer to guests a new cocktail & tapas experience during summer. One of the best views in Cannes! Reopening from 19th May 2021. The Terrace is on the 7th floor with a panoramic Sea and Marina view. with 300sqm accommodating 250 guests in a cocktail reception format. The spa Les Thermes Marins de Cannes, will be open to hotel guests from end of June and will have access to the pool, jacuzzi and fitness room The Exterior renovation has also been completed.

 

 

 

Martinez Hotel

The Hôtel Martinez will reopen in June 2021. Some innovations accompany this reopening with great achievements….
On the 7th floor, where the 7th Art meets the 7th Heaven, the new Penthouse Suites unveil their new decor. These suites in their entirety cover an area of ​​1125m² and are among the largest suites in Europe. The curtain rises on a metamorphosis, a strong new identity, in reference to the Seventh Art while preserving the Art Deco spirit of Martinez.
One universe and two atmospheres: First of all, the “Isabelle Huppert” Suite offers its spaces in a harmony of colors ranging from white to gold, including touches of cream, revealed through different effects of leather and silk. It can be connected to the second “Thierry Frémaux” Suite, imagined as a boudoir with stylish furniture and darker tones in an elegant male atmosphere, services of very high standing and attention to detail taken to its paroxysm, sea view bathtubs, wellness areas, projection area.
